Project Goals and Objectives
The Congress is being convened to serve as a venue in setting the directions for the institutionalization of a national agroforestry development program. Specifically, it intends to: 1. share the recent developments in various areas of agroforestry concerns that were identified during 1st National Agroforestry Congress; 2. finalize the draft framework of the national agroforestry development program; and 3. formulate a policy (in a form of a resolution) that will pave the way for the institutionalization of the national agroforestry development program in the Philippines.
Outputs and Outcomes
Eight papers regarding agroforestry; agroforestry education, research and technology development; agroforestry extension for rural and enterprise development; and policy advocacy were presented in the congress attended by 150 individuals. During the workshop, participants identified issues and concerns confronting agroforestry and its strategies and affirmed their contributions to the formulated strategies. The Bicol Congress Resolution on National Agroforestry Development which re-affirms the commitment of the stakeholders to promote agroforestry as a better alternative to destructive farming and mining in the uplands was formulated.
