Project Goals and Objectives
The project aims to have clear understanding of the issues and concerns involved in the various cases, analyze legal arguments and pertinent legal recourse of each of the cases in the light of the true intent and spirit of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act to amplify the protection of indigenous peoples rights through a 3-day conference-workshop on various IP cases, build networks to support the initiative, and formulate an action plan to interpret IPRA provisions and redress for IP rights now pending before the Supreme Court, and in support of environmental bills (i.e. Alternative Minerals Management Bill, Forest Resource Bill, National Land-use Act Bill) that have impact on IP communities.
