Project Goals and Objectives

The conference aims to bring together practitioners, researchers, policy advisors and funders in the Philippines and in the international arena from the population, health, and environment fields to focus on the vital links among population, health, and environment issues for sustainable development. It also aims to raise awareness of integrated population, health and environment projects, determine how the PHE approach relates to funder's goals and interests and sustain funding for PHE work in the Philippines.

Outputs and Outcomes

The conference was participated by 328 individuals from NGOs, POs, LGUs, legislators, funding agencies, and media. It resulted in the formulation of the 2006 Philippine Population, Health and Environment (PHE) Action Plan (Cebu Accord). A global PHE network was also launched and it will serve as the main coordinator for the implementation and monitoring of action plans stated under the Cebu Accord and a center of excellence and training in using integrated approaches for improving the well-being of communities and the environment.
