Project Goals and Objectives
The symposium aims to enhance PhilDHRRA member organizations / Mindanao CSOs’ knowledge and understanding of current climate change and environment issues, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to the environment and climate change, and share good practices on climate change response and climate-resilient technologies and lumad experiences in defending their ancestral domains.
Outputs and Outcomes
The symposium resulted to increased awareness of the need for collective action to help address and adapt to the impact of climate change. The sharing of various experiences on climate smart approaches gave opportunity to the participating CSOs to improve their rural development works to make it more “climate proof.”
Likewise, the participants were apprised of the government’s performance vis-à-vis the Millennium Development Goals (MGDs), that we indeed, while we fairly achieved some target, but we are failing to achieve the most important goal, which is “poverty reduction.”
