Finalists Selected for 2nd Sarihay Media Awards; Awarding in August 26, 2016
Posted on July 20, 2016The Foundation for the Philippine Environment is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2nd Sarihay Media Awards, which recognizes and showcases the country’s best reportage of environmental issues across traditional and digital media platforms in the past year. Launched last February 2016, the 2nd Sarihay Media Awards garnered a total of 178 entries ranging from print, television, radio, to digital media.
The Sarihay technical review committee, comprised of representatives from government, civil society, and the academe—the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Biodiversity Management Bureau (DENR-BMB), DENR – Strategic Communication and Initiatives Service (DENR-SCIS), Philippine Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation, Inc. (PTFCF), Tanggol Kalikasan Inc., Miriam College Environmental Studies Institute (Miriam-ESI), and FPE—pre-screened all submitted entries and came up with the list of finalists to be screened by the board of judges.

Marina Rabe-Manuel (Tanggol Kalikasan), Dr. Severino Sarmenta (Ateneo de Manila University), Ms. Anabelle Plantilla (Miriam-ESI), Mr. Bong Esguerra (Globe Telecom Corporate Communications), Dr. Paciencia Milan (FPE), and Mr. Godofredo Villapando (FPE).
On its second year, the Sarihay Media Awards continues to highlight the power and influence of media in promoting awareness and a deeper understanding of the environment and sustainable development. The announcement of winners and awarding ceremony will be held on August 26, 2016, 3 PM at Microtel - Technohub, Quezon City.
