FPE Launches 2nd Sarihay Media Awards Campaign
Posted on February 20, 2016The Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE) is proud to announce the return of the Sarihay Media Awards!
The Sarihay Media Awards highlight the power and influence of media in promoting awareness and a deeper understanding of the environment and sustainable development. Launched for the first time in February 2014, the campaign is designed to recognize and showcase the country’s best reportage of environmental issues across traditional and digital media platforms.
The 2014 campaign proved successful, drawing a total of 81 entries from various print, broadcast, and online media outfits. It forged a strong relationship among FPE, its partners in the media, and its peers in the academe, government, private sector, and fellow environmental NGOs.

This year, FPE aims to follow through with this strong inaugural initiative with the second Sarihay Media Awards campaign. The 2016 competition is open to all Filipino print, broadcast, and online journalists and photojournalists. A total of 15 awards will be granted, namely:
- Best News Story Published in a Newspaper
- One Regional Winner
- One National Winner
- Best Investigative Report Published in a Newspaper or Magazine
- Best Feature Story Published in a Magazine or Newspaper
- Best Commentary or Editorial Article
- Best Editorial Cartoon Published in a Newspaper or Magazine
Television
- Best News Reportage on TV
- One Regional Winner
- One National Winner
- Best TV Documentary
- Best TV Magazine Program or Talk Show
Radio
- Best Radio Commentary
- One Regional Winner
- One National Winner
Photojournalism
- Best Photo Essay
Online
- Best Online Commentary
- Best Online Video Documentary
All entries must have been published or aired within the period, January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. Winners in each of the 15 categories shall receive an all-expense-paid exposure and learning visit to an FPE-supported site, a Plaque of Recognition, a cash prize worth Php 20,000.
