Maeng Ancestral Domain Development Plan Underway
Posted on May 6, 2013The Maeng tribe of Tubo, Abra has recently conducted a series of preparatory activities to enhance their Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP).
They organized a convergence meeting in Pidigan, Abra on November 16, 2012 attended by representatives from Tipon iti Umili Para iti Panangsaluad ti Nakaparsuan (TIPON), Tubo municipal planning office, Cordillera Highland Agricultural Resource Management Project (CHARMP), provincial and regional offices of NCIP, and FPE. Through this meeting, a community working group (CWG) composed of local government unit and TIPON representatives was organized and their work plan was crafted.
Last March 19 to 20, 2013, the group conducted a Data Analysis and Ancestral Domain Framework Planning in Tubo with support from the Philippine Association for Intercultural Development (PAFID). They will meet again on May 21-24, 2013 in Bangued, Abra to finally craft their ADSDPP.
These activities are made possible by the Mainstreaming Indigenous Peoples’ Participation in Environmental Governance (MIPPEG) Project of FPE and PAFID through a grant from the European Union and Fundeso. MIPPEG also pursues 3D mapping and planning for selected tribal communities in Luzon and Mindanao.
