FPE Partners with CCAGG

Posted on September 2, 2021

The Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE) partners with Concerned Citizens of Abra for Good Government (CCAGG) whose project’s goal is to establish the Banao Indigenous Community Conserved Areas and three (3) ethnic-linguistic groups (Banao, Gubang & Mabaka Tribes) in managing their ancestral domain and register the ICCAs to the United Nation Environmental Program (UNEP) – World Conservation and Monitoring Center (WCMC).

Through the project, CCAGG has conducted community consultation, training on Geographic Information System mapping of Malibcong land-uses, training on reforestation and watershed tree planting activities. For their reforestation activity, the communities have chosen Alimit and Sablang species because they know these tree species are good for watershed areas. The partnership also led to the formation of Gubang Tribal Organization (ADUG) and an IEC advocacy program through a radio program called “ALLANGUGAN” which means “ECHO”. The radio program is very essential in the continuing information dissemination about the project “Establishing the Banao, Gubang and Mabaka Indigenous Community Conserved Areas” because the Abra CMN Radio Station has a wide coverage as far as the provinces of Kalinga and nearby Ilocos aside the 12 municipalities of Abra province.

Let’s continue to foster partnerships with the environment and help capacitate the IP’s in conserving the environment, especially their ancestral domains.
