Ecosystems-based Approach to Natural Resources Rehabilitation and Restoration towards Resilient Communities
Conceptualized in response to the impact of supertyphoon Yolanda (Haiyan), this project aims to increase resilience of Yolanda-affected site partners and communities – Guiuan, Eastern Samar and Gigantes Islands, Iloilo – through its immediate and long-term ecosystem rehabilitation activities.
In particular, it aims to document stories of Yolanda survivors, rehabilitate affected ecosystems such as coral and mangroves areas, identify and provide for alternative livelihood options in affected partner communities, and integrate disaster risk reduction and management and climate change adaptation into conservation management frameworks.
Formerly known as the Post-Yolanda Environmental Rehabilitation Project.
Project Duration:
From January 2014
Project Sites:
- Eastern Samar (Lawaan, Balangiga, Giporlos, Quinapondan, Mercedes, Salcedo, and Guiuan)
- Gigantes Islands, Iloilo
